Slow and Gentle Process
I love my job. It’s a constant source of learning and soul nourishment. I like to work on a slow and gentle process that ultimately focuses on the re-appropriation of the authentic self. I’d like to think that in helping clients through the exploration of their internal conflicts, working together to unlock their full potential, we as a team facilitate a process that enables them to be who they truly are.
I am a firm believer in the principles that pertain to a healthy ‘integrative’ approach to psychotherapy: coherent, considered, and co-created. I saw my own training, to become a therapist, as an extension of my own personal experience that was inspired by the 30+ years of recovery work I did on myself.
I Care
I have had my own journey through addictions – both substance and behavioural. Getting support was critical in my healing. I needed to co-regulate before I could self-regulate. My greatest lesson in life has been to learn to simply ask for help, so that I could come to understand that I was worth helping. The reaching out process can feel, for some, excruciatingly painful. For me, it was critical to have a safe and compassionate therapeutic space and that, is the model I try my best to emulate. Therapy is one of many forms of support available out there but whatever you choose – whoever you choose to work with – well done for initiating change by starting to look for your choice of support.
Receive You As You Are
I am a trained integrative transpersonal psychotherapist that leans on the Humanistic, Person-Centered and Existential models of psychotherapy. I do so because it permits me to receive you as you ‘are’: whether you are going through a tough time right now because of life’s continuous curveballs or suffering from repetitive addiction patterns, that leave you feeling hopeless and lost. I know how that feels, I have been there. And if not – I will invite you to consider sharing it with me and to tell me how that feels – and I will listen to you. Because is that not what we all need sometimes – just to be heard.
“Experience has taught us that we have only one enduring weapon in our struggle against mental illness: the emotional discovery of the truth about the unique history of our childhood”
(Alice Miller, The Drama of Being a Child, 1979).
Although I am well versed and interested in the field of ‘addiction recovery’, I am generally interested in working with anyone who seeks help to unfold and transform. I am a firm believer that as long as there is a will to change – one can experience some form of transformation.
Let’s Chat
If this resonates with you – give me a call or send me a text or email and we can set up a brief chat to answer any questions you may want to ask me. If you feel reassured by our brief conversation then you can decide whether to book an appointment with me or wait until you are ready and comfortable to do whatever you need to do.
If you have questions about fees, ideal length of sessions etc… I am happy to talk further.
